Freedom To Soar

To begin I work from my photographs, composing an arrangement for these extravagant peony blooms. I paint them in layer upon layer of glowing colour, encouraging combinations of granulation, flow and transparency to create a realistic image of painterly richness.
These blooms then blend into and emerge from abstract, orb-like planetary shapes that allude to the unseen energies that surround us.
The material and the mystical, two worlds blended together as one, dancing across the pristine watercolour paper.
