Old Soul

This is an ornate frame embellished with classic items that reminded me of my grandmothers jewellery box. The watercolour paper is literally cropped and cut out along prominent edges to emphasize the the formal qualities of shape, light and shadow, both within the painting itself, and beyond the boundaries of the painting. The unique shape of the contemporary white frame juxtaposes the nostalgic ornate painted frame and makes you question which frame is being framed?
Old and new coexist in this physical and conceptual space. Feel free to let your memories wander!
